Lady Gaga headed to Cambridge, Mass. yesterday to launch the Born This Way Foundation at Harvard University’s Sanders Theatre. Helping her out were two influential women in the pop star’s life: her mother Cynthia and Oprah Winfrey.
Lady Gaga explained that the youth empowerment organization’s three pillars are Safety, Skills and Opportunity. When asked about the nexus of the foundation, Gaga responded, “I want to help, I want to be brave, I want there to be more tolerance in the universe. I want there to be more acceptance. What I realize more than anything was that I never wanted this dialogue to end. This is about transformative change in culture over a period of time.”
Gaga also announced the Born Brave Bus, a travel tailgating party that will accompany her tour bus from city to city, offering youth a place to hang out, talk about life and hopefully inspire others. “It will welcome anyone from any walk of life, whether you have a ticket to the show or you don’t, to come and hang out and talk about love, acceptance, kindness and so forth,” she explained.
