Kym Johnson will not be returning to “Dancing with the Stars,” for season 17. However the dancer, who has been on the show for 14 seasons, says she is only taking one season off and will be back for season 18.
“I will be taking the next season off from DWTS USA, so that I may accept an amazing work opportunity back home. I am excited, nervous and humbled by this chance and look forward to sharing more about it with you soon,” the Australian dancer told E! News. “I wish all the dancers and celebrities in season 17 nothing but love and success, and hope to see you all back on the dance floor for season 18.”
Johnson first joined the “DWTS” family in the Australian version of the show. She moved to the U.S. version in the third season and has managed to win the Mirror Ball Trophy twice — with Donny Osmond in 2009 and Hines Ward in 2011.
While no other casting announcements have been made for season 17 of “DWTS,” rumors have been swirling that Paula Deen and Lindsay Lohan will be competing on the upcoming season.
