Keira Knightley has a stunning new photo shoot for the March 2012 issue of GQ UK, and in the accompanying interview, the “A Dangerous Method” actress talks about the upcoming film role, which she almost turned down.
“I said [to director David Cronenberg], ‘I love you, I love the script. But I don’t think it’s something I can do, so I might have to turn it down,’” she explained. “Once he said he didn’t want it to be sexy or voyeuristic, and as soon as I got my head around the S&M mentality, I said, ‘Okay, let’s do it.’”
Knightley admits that she did a lot of reading into Jung and Freud’s works to get a better understanding of her role as Sabina Spielrein. “I vaguely knew it was about sex and blaming your parents,” she said of the psychologists’ research. “Apart from that I had no idea.”
