Former “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi is expecting her first child with her husband Mike McCuddy through a surrogate. The couple are said to be expecting a son and have already chosen the name Greyson James Carroll McCuddy.
DioGuardi and McCuddy have struggled to conceive for quite a while. She opened up about her desire to have children in a memoir she released in 2011, “A Helluva High Note,” where she revealed she had unsuccessfully tried in vitro fertilization three times.
“I wanted a child and there was no way I could get pregnant under the stress of eighteen-hour work days and live TV,” DioGuardi wrote, revealing why she chose to leave “American Idol.” “Leaving was painful and there will always be a part of me that wanted to stay. But my desire to be in control of my destiny was larger than my need to be a household name.”
