The first week sales numbers are in! Justin Timberlake‘s new album, “The 20/20 Experience” did just as well as everyone thought it would, selling 968,000 units in its first week of sales, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The release of “20/20″ also marks a career high for Timberlake, marking his best first week sales to date as a solo artist. His 2006 album “FutureSex/LoveSounds” sold 684,000 copies in its first week and his debut solo album “Justified” had 439,000 units sold in its first week.
Apparently, it was Timberlake’s iTunes sales that put him over the top, and his sales from Target also made a pretty penny. Target was the only retailer to sell “The 20/20 Experience” deluxe edition, which included two bonus songs. Target has also been heavily involved in the promotion of the album. On the other hand, Apple streamed the album for free more than a week before its official release.
Next up for Timberlake is the “Legends of Summer” tour that he his co-headlning with Jay-Z.
