Timberlake will also be producing the film with Matt Damon, Laurence Mark and Neil’s son, Timothy Scott Bogart. Bogart wrote the film’s script and the movie will reportedly be shopped at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.
“With some of the music industry’s luminary artists lining up to join Justin in telling Neil’s incredible life story, the film is going to be a wild, music extravaganza that will light up the screen,” Damon said.
Bogart was the founder of Casablanca Records, which was the disco label home of Donna Summer, The Village People, Curtis Mayfield and Giorgio Moroder. “Spinning Gold” will follow Bogart’s humble upbringing in Brooklyn to his founding of Casablanca Records and New Wave Records.
Timberlake is likely to head the soundtrack for the film, which is said to contain covers of Casablanca’s top hits by current pop stars.
