In the show, Faris plays Christy who is a recovering alcoholic and single mother who is working on getting her life back together while raising her kids and “crazy” mother. Long comes in just in time to try and have a relationship with Faris’ character, but the show’s creator Chuck Lorre says he’s in for quite the ride.
“Poor bastard doesn’t know what he’s in for,” he said. “But he is going to be her first shot at a meaningful relationship in this new chapter in her life.”
“Mom” will also feature an apperance from Octavia Spencer, who will be playing a completely unique character.
“Octavia is coming to the show as well in the fourth or fifth episode,” Lorre said. “She’s playing a woman who it turns out has bigger problems than Christy so that Christy gets some perspective.”
“Mom” will premiere on CBS on September 23.
