Johnny Depp is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as the Mad Hatter in “Alice in Wonderland 2.”
However, it seems director of the 2010 film, Tim Burton, will not be returning for the sequel. Instead, James Bobin, known for “The Muppets” has apparently been in discussions to direct the upcoming film.
“Alice in Wonderland” was released in 2010 and pulled in $116 million during its opening weekend and managed to rake in $1 billion worldwide. The film is currently the 14th highest crossing film of all time.
Before an “Alice” sequel hits the masses, fans can see Depp play another iconic character on the big screen. The actor has signed-on to play the Wolf in “Into the Woods,” the film version of the award-winning musical from Stephen Sondheim. The film also stars Meryl Streep, Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pine.
“Into the Woods” is expected to hit theaters on Christmas Day 2014.
