We understand if you’ve never thought about the fact that Natalie Portman is Jewish. She doesn’t really play up the fact that she was born in Israel. She doesn’t go around introducing herself as Natalie Hershlag. Oh, and she refuses to play Jewish in her movies. Sure. That makes sense. She told Elle UK (via Celebitchy):
I’ve always tried to stay away from playing Jews. I get like 20 Holocaust scripts a month, but I hate the genre. That was the first thing to come my way (New York, I Love You) that really intrigued me.
We hear that Natalie’s New Year resolutions are to try to stay away from playing women, brunettes, and humorless killjoys.

Well…I guess that leaves the door open for possible Neo-Nazi Biker Chick roles, but that might be a bit off of good taste.
I finally figured out what it is that bothers me about her: she seems to take herself way too seriously.
She’s beautiful & talented and may be a great person if you know her socially, but she comes across as having a gigantic stick up her ass.
And I could be wrong about the talent. Can anyone remind me of any good parts she’s played since ‘The Professional’?
You nailed it. I’ve been trying to find her so-called talent for years and years.
Well, there was V FOR VENDETTA, but that would be stretching things a bit.
She sure has a talent for annoying the piss out of me. Not sure she’d take credit for that though. She probably doesn’t approve of bodily functions.
