Jessica Alba is a mysterious beauty on the cover of the Fall 2013 issue of The Editorialist. Alba has spent the last few years away from the camera and concentrating on her own venture, The Honest Company. She’s become dedicated to living a healthy, clean life, which also involves environmentally-friendly products for families.
“It took me three years of spending my own money, pounding the pavement, getting doors closed in my face and people thinking I was nuts. But then I found the right partners, we put together a great deck and once we streamlined the concept, the design aspect and the business model, it was really easy for people to understand.”
Currently, The Honest Company concentrates on household products like detergents and diapers. They will soon also be launching goods such as strollers and diaper bags.
After giving birth to her second child, Haven, 2, Alba decided to wear a corset underneath her clothes. While many seemed surprise by the move, Alba says it was no big deal.
“It’s not that big of a deal. A lot of people do it; it’s really common. A friend suggested it—it’s something that people do in Africa and India and it’s not an uncommon thing—though they usually just wrap it with cloth,” she said. “It just puts your stomach muscles and all your organs [back into place]. So it’s just to give your body muscle memory of where it was, but you don’t lose weight or anything. You have to diet and exercise for that.”
