Jay Baruchel will be producing a semi-autobiographical sitcom for ABC. The actor will be working with his long-time writing partner, Jesse Chabot.
The still untitled comedy will center around a successful actor who ultimately decides to leave Hollywood and move back to his hometown of Burlingon, Vt. He buys a house close to his mother and asks his two best friends to move in with him. The sitcom is said to prove that it’s always okay to go home again, it just might take a bit of work.
Baruchel and Chabot will write and executive produce the comedy. At this time, it doesn’t seem as though Baruchel will have an on-screen role.
In real life, Baruchel still lives in the same Montreal, Quebec neighborhood he grew up in. He even has a red maple leaf tattoo to pay homage to his Canadian roots. He has previously been quoted as saying, “Hollywood is not my cup of tea,” and admits he is always a bit fearful a trip to L.A. will keep him away from his beloved hometown for eternity (not unlike in “This Is The End“).
