Ivanka Trump sat down with Redbook to talk about two of her favorite things — motherhood and fashion.
Ivanka spoke about her baby girl. “Oh, every morning I’m so sad to leave Arabella. But it’s important for me to continue what I’m doing. It’s fulfilling to me, and I think it makes me a better mom when I’m home. And incidentally, I hate the expression ‘working mom,’ because when I’m with Arabella on the weekends, I’m much more exhausted on Monday morning than I am on Friday night! [Laughs] I think the expression ‘working’ versus ‘non-working’ implies that a mother who stays home doesn’t work. It’s far more difficult than anything I do in the office.”
As for her fashion advice, Ivanka dished, “Buy simple, classic pieces—a good trench, a crisp white shirt, a shift dress—and then add some fun through accessories. Every woman should have a great black dress that she can wear as a baseline. Then throw on a chunky necklace, or some bracelets. The simplest way to do it is to add a little twist to a neutral palette: black, beige, white.”
