The season one finale of “The Mindy Project” ended with Mindy (Mindy Kaling) heading to Haiti with her boyfriend, just as Danny (Chris Messina) was realizing his feelings for her. So what can fans expect from season 2? Actor and writer on the show Ike Barinholtz talked to E! News about what might be next for our favorite rom-com loving obstetrician.
“I think a lot of people are wondering if she went [to Haiti] or not,” Barinholtz said. “I think it makes sense for her to be there, so we’re going to deal with that relationship; finding out if that’s still going to work.”
Mindy’s not the only character with big changes ahead. Barinholtz also revealed that Danny might be leaving New York.
“We’re going to see a big change for Danny. He might be living in another state. Not just physically, but also mentally.”
The show will of course address the big pink elephant in the room — the almost kiss between Mindy and Danny.
“I feel like we hit that at the end of the season, so it’s always underlining, it’s always there, but it’s not primary focus right now,” Barinholtz said. “We really wanted to have that moment and now we want to see how they deal with that moment.”
