Hugh Jackman’s Next Trick: Playing Harry Houdini on Broadway

Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman has just signed on to play Harry Houdini on Broadway. Aaron Sorkin will pen the storyline, while Stephen Schwartz will tackle the lyrics and music.

“I have been deeply fascinated by the life of Harry Houdini since I was young, and in many ways I’ve been preparing for this role my whole life,” said Jackman. “I am thrilled to be collaborating with this collection of artists who are all at the top of their game.”

The Wall Street Journal writes that we’ll see Hugh Jackman as Harry Houdini in time for the 2013-2014 season. He’ll spend 2012 alongside Sacha Baron Cohen in the upcoming film adaptation of “Les Miserables.”

Do you think Jackman will make a good Houdini?

This is great news for film fans. Houdini was a remarkable person and his life makes for a compelling story. Hugh Jackman can totally carry this off, he has the physique to look good doing the stunts, and he can carry off the dark mysterious types of characters that would do Houdini justice. Can’t wait for this one!

Jackman has turned in some amazing performances and has proven durability as an actor, I would love to see him pull off this Houdini film.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait until about 2015 to see the film, which will no doubt follow if the run on Broadway is successful!
