Since starring in Antonio Campos’ “Afterschool” as an internet-addicted teen, Ezra Miller hasn’t disappointed audiences, showing smart, and sometimes bold, choices in a handful of features alongside majorly talented thesps. While many younger actors are called upon to simply be themselves, Miller has morphed with each film.
If you haven’t yet seen “City Island” with Andy Garcia and Julianna Margulies, you owe it to yourself to check it out – with a lot of great acting on screen, Miller is a revelation as a skinny kid with a crush on fuller-figured ladies. In “We Need to Talk About Kevin” that charm disappears in his chilling depiction of a child capable of a Columbine-type catastrophe. Now, as Patrick in the big screen adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” Miller’s proud and secretive homosexual teen provides the catalyst off whom Emma Watson and Logan Lerman can live large-r.
Miller, apparently hungry for a bagel when he came into our Beyond Cinema Studio presented by Celebs.com at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, took a moment with our photographer, Scott McDermott, which yielded this cool series of shots.
With “Perks” tracking big per-screen numbers at the box-office this past weekend, it’s time to look forward. Next up for the talented youngster? Another adaptation – “Madame Bovary” – co-starring Mia Wasikowska and Paul Giamatti.
