Taking a clue from Britney Spears, Eddie Van Halen is double dipping on the rehab. You know it's a slow news day when we're writing about Eddie Van Halen. It could be worse. We could be running concurrent stories on Aldo Nova and Mike Reno of Loverboy. We'd do it too man, we're fuckin' crazy! Don't try to pen us in or pin us down, man. We're free spirits, too beautiful for this world.
There was a VH reunion tour (with David Lee Roth!) planned for this summer. Now there is not. It's not because Diamond Dave has been up to his zany, bandmate-alienating antics, it is not because Michael Anthony is the only one who wants to attend the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and it's not because Alex Van Halen is . . . doing . . . stuff. It's because Eddie's in rehab again! He writes on his website:
I would like Van Halen fans to know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Without you there is no Van Halen.
I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. Thatís why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.
Some of the issues surrounding the 2007 Van Halen tour are within my ability to change and some are not. As far as my rehab is concerned, it is within my ability to change and change for the better. I want you to know that is exactly what Iím doing, so that I may continue to give you the very best I am capable of.
I look forward to seeing you in the future better than ever and I thank you with all my heart.

Notice he doesn't say what for. We refuse to believe that EVH has slipped back into his old ways and is using drugs and alcohol again. Instead, we're hoping the "rehabilitation" in question is of the dental variety, with Bob Vila and/or Ty Pennington rebuilding the grizzled rocker's crusty maw.
