Comedian, actor and… mayor of London? If Eddie Izzard has his way, he’ll be able to add “politician” to his resume in 2020. Izzard announced his intentions this week at the Labour Party’s annual conference, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Eddie is a man of enormous substance, generosity and conviction,” said parliament member Tessa Jowell. “His decision to do this is a vote of confidence in Labour.”
Why doesn’t Izzard plan on running in the next election, which takes place in just three years? The British press suspects this is because the 2013 race is already packed with seasoned parliament members.
Would you vote for Eddie Izard as the mayor of London if you were able to?
