Drake has revealed the artwork for his upcoming album “Nothing Was The Same.” The cover features a young, afro’d Drake staring off to the side. A second cover features an adult Drake staring in the opposite direction. Side by side, it looks as though the younger and adult Drake are looking at each other.
It seems not everyone quite understood what the album cover symbolized, with many wondering if the child’s image was a photo of Jay Z and Beyonce‘s daughter Blue Ivy, or why Drake looks tanned in his image.
Drake decided to give his fans a bit of an explanation, saying the cover art symbolizes his personal journey and reflects the music on his new album.
“It’s a child version of myself staring at myself now. Sometimes when I try and think back on this journey, it’s so hard to pinpoint all of these moments and it gets foggy,” he told MTV. “Even on past albums when I’ve been trying to tell this story, I’ve got there, but maybe not got there all the way. And what that album art is to me is, like, this is my most clean, concise thoughts from now, and my best recollection of them. That’s really what that cover’s about.”
Drake’s new album “Nothing Was The Same” drops on September 24.
