Dolly Parton is currently writing an autobiographical musical in the hopes that it will play on Broadway. “I probably won’t be in it, but I’ll find a way to introduce it somehow, maybe the older me,” she told WENN.
It won’t be Parton’s first experience on the Great White Way. The musical adaptation of “9 to 5,” which featured her lyrics and music, played 148 performances between April 2009 and September 2009. “’9 to 5′ didn’t make it on Broadway but it didn’t sour me,” the country singer admitted. “I learned all this stuff from it.”
Dolly Parton will have a ton of ground to cover in her autobiographical musical. She’s gotten more awards and honors than any other country performer, including seven Grammy Awards, 25 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Country charts, three American Music Awards and over 100 million records sold.
