You might not know this but back before they were both big stars, Adam Sandler and Judd Apatow were roommates. The two sat down with “60 Minutes” to discuss what their lives were like living together.
Their $900/month apartment was located in the Valley, outside of Los Angeles. Apatow described what their typical day was like. “Back then, life was just doing stand-up or writing jokes. You would sleep until noon every day and kind of stumble out. You would have to be at work at 8:30 at night. Work was sometimes 15 minutes.”
Sandler shared their favorite night out. “It wasn’t broke. We were doing as comedians good enough to get by. We could eat at Red Lobster once every month. That was a big night out.”
Then Sandler scored a gig on “Saturday Night Live” and moved to New York. Still, he continued to pay his half of the rent, fearing he would be fired at any moment and need a place to fall back on. As Apatow remembers, “He just left, like he was going to come back, but he just didn’t come back.”
