David Arquette played superhero to 50 mothers and their children when he, along with partner ecomom, an Internet retailer of environmentally friendly products, handed out hundreds of free containers of Plum Organics baby food in the Bronx.
The Bronx has been identified as one of America’s food deserts. This means that many residents do not have access to fresh fruits and vegetables, which are heavily carried in large grocery outlets. The program, sponsored and implemented by ecomom, focuses on providing healthy food to children in need. In fact, regardless of the dollar amount spent, ecomom donates three healthy meals for every purchase made via their site.
Arquette is the perfect partner for the company, as he is no stranger to being in need. “I was in the lunch program at school and we were on food stamps,” he admitted. “When times got tough for my family, we definitely needed help and that’s something I always remember.”
Now the actor has paid it forward by giving other children an experience they will always remember.
