This Dakota Fanning ad for Marc Jacobs‘ Oh, Lola! perfume has been banned in the U.K. after Britain’s Ad Standards Authority ruled that it was too suggestive for publication. In the ad, which appears to the left, the 17-year-old actress is shown seated on the floor resting an oversized bottle of perfume between her legs.
“The length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality,” wrote the ASA. “Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child.”
People also reports that Coty UK, who makes Marc Jacobs’ Oh, Lola! perfume, called the Dakota Fanning ad “provoking but not indecent.” Do you think the print ad should have been pulled from circulation?
