Cruise's Sister Demoted from Publicist to Betterer of Human Condition

Nabbing Tom Cruise a child bride and overseeing her subsequent religious conversion and fetal implantation, commandeering the infamous couch pouncing, supervising his one-man crusade against the dark art of psychiatry . . . yes, Cruise's sister Lee Anne DeVette has certainly had a banner year. We're sure none of this was the reason Cruise demoted her from publicity honcho to head of "charitable endeavors". In her place, Tom's hired a real professional grown-up company to handle his publicity needs: Paul Bloch, who also represents John Travolta, Sylvester Stallone, Billy Bob Thornton, Geena Davis, Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley, Steve Bing, and Chris Tucker. Thrilling entertainment luminaries with sparkling public images all. Kudos to Cruise-os!

In an official statement, Tom said,

"Lee Anne has done a wonderful job on behalf of myself and Cruise-Wagner Prods. over the last few years. But she has always expressed a desire to oversee and expand the day-to-day activities of my charitable endeavors."

I'm sure she did! This is kind of like when your toddler expresses interest in helping you prepare dinner. After he burns himself on the stove and breaks a glass measuring cup, you give him a rubber spatula and an empty bowl to play with and say, "This is a big, important job! Oh, you are such a big boy!" In the same statment, Lee Anne DeVette said,

"I am thrilled at this new opportunity to oversee Tom's philanthropic endeavors. I know how important Tom's charitable goals are to him, and I am looking forward to assisting in raising the profile of the good works that he does on behalf of children's health issues, mentoring, literacy and other social reforms, as well as the general betterment of the human condition."

The betterment of the human condition. We'll leave you to chew on that phrase for a while.
