Christina Applegate is leaving NBC sitcom “Up All Night.” The actress confirmed the news, which came as a shock to TV fans since she serves as one of two main stars on the show that centers around a woman balancing her work and home life with her husband, daughter and best friend.
“It’s been a great experience working on ‘Up All Night,’ but the show has taken a different creative direction, and I decided it was best for me to move on to other endeavors,” Applegate said in a statement. “Working with [executive producer] Lorne Michaels has been a dream come true, and I am grateful he brought me into his TV family. I will miss the cast, producers and crew and wish them the best always.”
The series’ new creative direction includes switching from single to multi camera. The creator of “Up All Night,” Emily Spivey, also recently decided to leave the show.
