Song of the Week: Questlove’s (@questlove) Beastie Boys Tribute Medley Demo

In April, Questlove performed a medley of Beastie Boys tracks at this year’s annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony in celebration of the life of Adam Yauch. Just in case you need to be reminded, Adam and two of his buddies changed the world of music as The Beastie Boys. Recently, Questlove let loose an MP3 of the demo he sent around beforehand to folks involved with the ceremony, a demo that gave them a taste of what was to come. Questlove, being Questlove, did it the only way he could, with flair and style, gaining a lot of love and even more fans along the way while making something totally rad.

Album of the Week: “Is Your Love Big Enough” by Lianne La Havas (@liannelahavas)

Big things are happening for British singer Lianne La Havas. She has announced details for her first North American tour promoting her highly praised debut album “Is Your Love Big Enough?” out now on Nonesuch Records.

La Havas will be touring in support of nine-time Grammy Award-winner John Legend on 14 dates across the U.S. It must be pretty cool when everyone from Bon Iver to Ryan Adams is raving about your music, but the reason is simple: Velvety, beautiful and soulful. Enjoy the inspired sounds.

Music Video of the Week: Cat Power (@CATPOWER) – “Ruin”

We’re getting closer to the date so we had to mention this. Cat Power is back. After six years, Cat Power will be dropping their new album, “Sun,” on September 4. This is big news since it’s Chan Marshall’s first full-length outing since “Jukebox” and Cat Power’s first batch of original material since 2006′s “The Greatest” got her all those headlines. And, yes, we’re so very excited to have her back.

Cat Power will be heading out on the road this Fall in support of her September 4 release. Get amped for the new stuff, enjoy, and share (you don’t want Cat Power thinking you’re selfish, do you?).
