Bruno Mars will perform at the Pepsi Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime show in February. The singer made an official announcement earlier today in Times Square.
In a teaser video uploaded to Mars’ YouTube page following the announcement, viewers are reminded of Mars’ rise to fame, from his very early days as an Elvis Presley impersonator to becoming an international superstar. Mars as actually become the fastest male artist to receive five No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since Elvis himself.
Performing at the Super Bowl Halftime certainly secures Mars’ place in pop culture. As the most watched television event in America, the halftime show pulls in higher ratings than the actual annual football game. Last year’s halftime show with Beyonce received 110.5 million viewers.
With the Super Bowl heading to New York next year, the NFL is planning a series of concerts on the city’s different boroughs in preparation for the big game.
Super Bowl XLVIII will take place on February 2, 2014. Watch Mars’ teaser below.
