Brie Larson will not be reprising her role as Jonah Hill‘s love interest in “22 Jump Street.” The actress says she is rooting for her former costars, but didn’t feel it was right for her character to return.
“After speaking with [directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller], it’s not something I’m going to be a part of any more than just in spirit,” Larson said. “I will be a virtual cheerleader for those boys doing it again. And I’ll be so happy to see the movie and laugh as hard as I did during the first one.”
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are both reprising their starring roles as the underachieving cops. Instead of going undercover at a high school like they did in “21 Jump Street,” the pair are heading to college.
Hill is working on the sequel’s script with Michael Bacall, and production is expected to begin this fall.
“22 Jump Street” is expected to hit theaters on June 13, 2014.
