Pronounced dead in her room at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on the eve of the Grammys, Whitney Houston was the most awarded female pop singer of all time. She was 48 years old.

UPDATE: Jennifer Hudson has now been tapped to sing a tribute to Houston at the Grammy Awards at Staples Center, Los Angeles, tomorrow night.
