“Breaking Bad” premiered the second half of its fifth and final season last night to record-breaking ratings. The show received a series-high rating with 5.9 viewers, a 102% increase from last year’s premiere.
Fans also took to Twitter with stars of the show live-tweeting during the episode. It caused an an entire social media frenzy with a total of 760,000 tweets and 11799 tweets per minute.
“For ‘Breaking Bad’ to continue to deliver record-setting ratings in its fifth and final season is remarkable,” AMC’s president and general manager, Charlie Collier said in a statement. “Our new series, ‘Low Winter Sun,’ is off to a strong start, and we have successfully launched another after-show in ‘Talking Bad,’ which will super-serve ‘Breaking Bad’ fans all the way through these final episodes.”
