Many families have a swear jar in place, but chances are they’re not as charitable as the donation pot in the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie home. Cursing — and even mean-spirited phrases like “stupid” or “I hate you” — are strictly verboten, and both kids and adults have to pay stiff penalties for infractions.
Kids who curse must do “major household chores,” while Jolie, Pitt, and any of their friends or family members have to donate $1,000 to the swear jar each time they let profanities slip. The censorship is for a good cause, though: proceeds of the jar are donated to a children’s charity.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie aren’t the only celebrities to institute financial penalties to curb their cursing. Kristen Stewart revealed in November that she had to put a swear jar on the “Twilight” set while filming “Breaking Dawn” as penance for her profanity.
