Lenny Kravitz is no stranger to the big screen, having played supporting roles in films like this year’s blockbuster hit, “The Hunger Games.” However, the singer is now taking it to the next level. Kravitz will play the leading role in an upcoming film biopic based on the life of the late and great Marvin Gaye.
The film will focus on the last few years of Gaye’s life, a tumultuous time for the aptly nicknamed Prince of Soul. He was living in London for tax evasion purposes and had spiraled into alcohol addiction. His life tragically ended in Los Angeles in March of 1984 when his own father shot him to death during an argument over misplaced business documents.
The casting of Kravitz and the making of the film have Gaye’s second and last wife, Janis Gaye, feeling “very skeptical.” Hopefully the “Fly Away” singer can put Gaye’s mind to rest once she sees the story come to life.
