It’s no secret that America’s sweetheart Betty White has an innate affection for animals. That’s why she is the perfect choice to host the Hooray for HollyWOOF fundraiser. This special fundraiser will specifically benefit Dogs for the Deaf as well as Generation Rescue.
White summed it up best in an open letter to would-be participants and donors:
I’m sure you know how much I love dogs, so you can imagine how excited I was to be asked to be the Celebrity Hostess for the 35th Anniversary celebration for Dogs for the Deaf. This is truly a win/win organization. They rescue dogs from shelters and train them to help people with a variety of disabilities — the dogs are saved and then they go on to enhance and even save the lives of the people they are helping. Join me on August 4 to help this special organization celebrate 35 years of saving dogs and helping people with disabilities.
Betty White has been campaigning for animal rights since the 1970s. In addition to serving as the president emerita of the Morris Animal Foundation, where she’s been a trustee for over 40 years, she’s also been a longtime board director of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association. Is there anything she can’t do?
