Ben Affleck in 'Argo'

The Directors Guild of America announced their nominations today and actor/writer turned director Ben Affleck scored the first nomination of his career.

The critically acclaimed film “Argo” has earned Affleck a spot at the table, along with seasoned talent like Kathryn Bigelow, Tom Hooper, Ang Lee and Steven Spielberg, who were also nominated for the DGA Award.

Bigelow and Hooper have both been nominated twice. Bigelow actually won the award in 2009 for “The Hurt Locker.” Lee has been nominated three times and as for the legendary Spielberg, this is the 11th nomination of his career.

It will be interesting to see who walks away with the 65th annual Director’s Guild of America’s top honors. The winner will be announced on Feb. 2 in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland. Actor Kelsey Grammer is set to host the event for a second consecutive year.
