Michael Diamond (Mike D) and Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock) are working on a memoir about their hip-hop group, The Beastie Boys. But the duo, who lost their third member Adam Yauch (MCA) last year to cancer, don’t want this to be just any memoir.
Diamond and Horovitz are “interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience,” said Julie Grau, a publisher at Spiegel & Grau. “There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks a reader to keep up.”
They will also be teaming up with Sacha Jenkins, a hop-hop journalist who will be editing the book. The memoir will have pieces from other writers and will include a lot of visuals.
The Beastie Boys memoir is scheduled to hit shelves in fall 2015.
