Rotten Tomatoes has experienced a ruckus within the bat community. For the first time in its history, commenting has been disabled for the upcoming “The Dark Knight Rises.” Is it because key plot points were given away? (We’re looking at you, David Letterman.) Nope, it’s because diehard fans of the franchise got their bat suits in a bunch when a couple of reviewers had less-than-stellar things to say about the final installment.
While it’s safe to assume that director Christopher Nolan didn’t hire thousands of people to storm the message boards belittling disenchanted critics, one has to marvel in the superhero powers it takes to cause such a firestorm of reaction.
After all, Rotten Tomatoes editor-in-chief Matt Atchity himself noted, “It’s probably safe to say that ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is the most anticipated film of the year. More than ‘The Hobbit.’ More than ‘The Avengers.’”
Find out for yourself when “The Dark Knight Rises” hits theaters worldwide on Friday, July 20.
