At last night’s Academy Awards®, Angelina Jolie took a coquettish stance as she presented the award for Best Adapted Screenplay, placing one hand on her hip and extending her right leg out from her dress’ high slit. The moment instantly went viral: while accepting their award, the screenplay award winners — “The Descendants” producer Alexander Payne and cowriters Jim Rash and Nat Fixon — mimicked her stance.
“I just saw her pose and I thought, you know what, we have exactly the same legs,” Rash explained backstage. “And I wanted to show everyone what it means. It was a loving tribute.”
The Jolie parodies didn’t stop there. A Twitter account named @AngiesRightLeg began tweeting out missives like, “Look at meeee!!” and “Still here. Great view, but thank god for the slit in this dress.” As of this writing, the account has over 14,000 followers.
