Winning the title of “American Idol” doesn’t always mean you’ll be a successful recording artist (Ruben Studdard, Taylor Hicks and Lee DeWyze can attest to this). And being rejected from the show, sometimes before you can even sing in front of the judges, doesn’t mean you won’t go on to bigger and better things.
TooFab put together a list of stars who once hoped to win the (sometimes) coveted title of “American Idol.” See a few successful “Idol” rejects below!
Hillary Scott tried out for “American Idol” twice, but failed to impress producers. Now, she’s the lead singer of Lady Antebellum, one of the most successful country groups of all time.
Colbie Caillat tried out for “American Idol” twice, singing her original song “Bubbly.” Both times, she was rejected by producers. Now, Caillat is a two-time Grammy winner and “Bubbly” has become a pop favorite.
