The East Hampton Library is about to get a new children’s wing courtesy of Alec Baldwin and his Capital One Bank Venture Rewards commercial. The actor donated $250,000 to the library — a significant increase over his 2010 donation of $25,000 — to add 2,000 square feet to the children’s wing, new seating and computers, and over 10,000 books.
“[Baldwin] has earmarked all of the proceeds from the [Capital One] promotion to the funding of arts and cultural organizations,” read a statement from the East Hampton Library. “We greatly appreciate this generous donation for the library’s Children’s Addition, which will enable us in our ongoing mission to continue to provide outstanding library services to the East Hampton community.”
Alec Baldwin’s philanthropy didn’t stop at the library, according to Ecorazzi. He also donated over $750,000 to East Hampton organizations like the Roundabout Theater, the Hamptons International Film Festival, The New York Philharmonic and Guild Hall.
