“American Idol” alum Adam Lambert confirmed today that he’s joining legendary band Queen for a July 7 performance at the Sonisphere Festival in Knebworth, England.
“Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could,” he tweeted this afternoon. Gonna be a surreal night!”
Lambert has performed onstage twice with Queen: in 2009 at the finals of “American Idol” and at the 2011 MTV EMAs. Earlier this month, the singer shot down a Daily Star report that he was joining Queen permanently, tweeting, “Them clever reporters takin my quotes outta context. I haven’t confirmed any guest appearances… I’m truly flattered by your jump to such glorious conclusions mr journalist!! :)” [sic]
Here’s a video of Adam Lambert performing a Queen medley with the band at the 2011 EMAs. Of course, there’s no replacing Freddie Mercury, but do you think Lambert has the vocal chops to sing with Queen after Sonisphere?
