50 Cent is facing charges after an alleged attack on his ex-girlfriend. The rapper is facing a misdemeanour domestic violence charge, and four charges of misdemeanour vandalism.
The charges were filed by a woman in California, who has reportedly been dating 50 Cent for three years and the pair apparently have a child together. The incident took place on June 23, with 50 Cent being believed to have caused more than $7,000 in damages at the woman’s apartment. He also allegedly kicked her.
“Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office,” said Los Angeles city attorney Mike Feuer.
If he is convicted, 50 Cent could face up to five years in jail and fines as high as $46,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 22 and has not yet publicly addressed the charges.
